This exciting festival will bring together some of the best of British printmaking including the work of our own local printmakers. It will be a true celebration of the art of printmaking, often overlooked in the world of Fine Art.
On show will also be some of the finest prints from around the world, in anticipation of our international festival in 2011 –IMPRESS ’11. Among the contributions from stars of the art world will be work in the prestigious Curwen Collection, lent by Tate Britain. This includes prints by Paula Rego and Henry Moore.

The month’s programme features demonstrations and workshops, open to the public, led by masters in their field, including celebrated etcher, Norman Ackroyd, who will be setting up a ‘field studio’on Stratford Park bandstand. A Symposium, lectures and guided tours of exhibitions will provide a stimulating and informative background to the Festival and emphasize the long and varied traditions of printmaking in the UK and Ireland and the many innovative contemporary techniques.

The workshops and Symposium can be booked directly from the Gloucestershire Printmaking Cooperative on 01453 885100, or info@gpchq.org. Other events can be booked by phoning the Museum in the Park, on 01453 763394, and Stroud Subscription Rooms, on 01453 760999.

Our aim is to encourage lively participation from members of the public of all ages and encourage them to join our thriving print community. Bring your children to lunch at the Museum with prizewinning author, Kevin Crossley Holland, and join a Pop In and Print session for starters!
